Hi,
There is the feature of a Template Key, but the Help does not talk about it. What exactly does it or how can it be used?
Thanks

Hi Regine,
Normally when you send a list of contacts to fmSpark you're presented with the Select Template screen. In other cases, you might have specific template in mind and the template key lets you call fmSpark while specifying a particular template. You can find an example of this in the Sample Contacts file: click on the Admissions tab and try one of the "Send Application Acknowledgement..." buttons. This tells fmSpark to use the template with the Template Key "AppAck". Hope that helps, John Sindelar

Hey,
Can the Template Key be used without the Sample Contacts, and just for the contacts in SeedCode? Regards, IT_User |

Sure. The script which employs the Template Key in sample contacts is just an example of a script you can paste into your own file. You don't have to use it with just Sample Contacts.

I see, but it only works for letter and not e-mails?
I haven't really done much with scripts, so I would change it if I knew how. |

Hey there. No, it works for letters, emails, or labels. It all depends on the Template Key you send... if the key belongs to an email template, you get an email, if it belongs to a letter, etc.
So just change the script parameter attached to the button calling that script to use a different Template Key and you're in business. (You can assign Template Keys to your templates on the Templates tab of the Settings screen in fmSpark-- select "Settings" from the fmSpark menu to get started.) Enjoy! John Sindelar

Ah, thank you, sorry about all the posts I have been doing.
This makes things a bit easier. I'll probably have more questions sometime. |
